Fairchild Gardens

April 25, 2012

While my sister was visiting we went to the Fairchild Tropical Gardens. I took some really pretty shots of Baby, and I’ll post those soon. But first two cool nature shots.

The first is an Agama lizard, which is native to Africa, and the second is moth a butterfly called a Mangrove Skipper that was hanging around the rainforest section of the gardens.  The light around the moth butterfly was perfect, but the breeze and dimness made catching a super sharp image nearly impossible. I’m still very happy with it though.

Great pictures, Starling! I think the butterfly is a Mangrove skipper–they have hairy bodies like moths but are butterflies. There’s one almost like it in Texas but it doesn’t have the pretty blue dots. We are covered over with butterflies and moths this year.
